Hotel - Motel Georges

The building is old, and from our downstairs room we could clearly hear people walking in the rooms above. If you're booking, I'd definitely ask for an upper floor room. The location is near the ferry landing and about a 10-15 minute walk to the city center. Our room was clean and nice, and all the workers were helpful and spoke English and French. Breakfast costs extra, though honestly you may not find it necessary.

We had a good experience for two nights with my parents, and I'd recommend it for a short stay. The place was clean and fairly close to the ferry landing. The staff spoke English, which was a bonus for non-French-speaking travelers like me. It looked like a new place, so shampoo, soap, and similar things weren't provided, but the room was decent. It's about 15 minutes to the city center and a five-minute walk to the place we booked for whale watching.

I was there with three children for a booked two-night stay, costing $928.18. When we arrived, the toilet was very sluggish and soon blocked. A front desk staff member plunged it; it flushed, but still very slowly. We were out the next day until about 8 pm, then came back to find it blocked again. Two front desk staff came to the room. I felt uncomfortable with them there, so I filmed them on my phone. They put a wad of industrial paper towel in the toilet and kept flushing until it went down, after many attempts while I protested. When I asked why, they said, "Sometimes our clients flush paper towel down our toilets to sabotage us." I asked why clients would do that to themselves, and they had no answer. I told them I had video of them doing it themselves, so they couldn't blame me for any damage. I asked for my money back. They said they'd refund half, but only if I left immediately. If something like this happens to you, contact your booking group right away. They will or should reimburse you all your money. I would advise people not to stay here!

Thankfully, we only stayed one night. The room was poorly maintained, there was no air conditioning, and the window mechanism was broken so we couldn't get any air moving. The bath towels were the size of bath mats, and the shower was horrible. The owners had poor communication and customer service. I thought I'd booked a double room, but that hadn't been passed along, and the front desk staff focused on proving my travel agent hadn't asked for one instead of finding a solution. The hotel is right by the road where the ferry drops you, but almost nothing else in town is, so that location isn't actually so great. There is much better accommodation in Tadoussac. Never again.
