I stayed for two nights in May and had a great experience. The kitchen was well stocked, and parking onsite was included. Staff were great, welcoming, and gave me good suggestions for local hikes. I especially liked the little touch of letting guests write on the walls. It was fun reading everyone’s notes.

Seven people from our ski club stayed at Haven Hostel from Feb 2nd to 6th 2026, and we’re planning to return. It’s close to the waterfront and plenty of good restaurants. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and it seems like a good fit for a solo traveller, a couple, or a group.

A handy stop on a road trip. The common spaces were clean, parking was convenient, and the staff made us feel welcome with their friendly manner. Great hostel in Thunder Bay!

Darren and Boss the dog were both such sweethearts. We were touring with a theatre troupe and found the place clean and friendly. If you’re travelling with a bigger group, renting an entire room is a good deal and very affordable.

Darren at the front desk was so kind and full of personality. My short stay was just a good time. He gave me a dorm room he knew I’d have to myself, which was ideal since I’m on a long road trip and only have big totes, no bag. The location is great, the rooms are tidy and comfortable, and the whole place is clean. There’s backpacker writing all over the main floor walls, which makes it feel cozy.
