The food was generous, delicious and tasted professionally prepared. We often had leftovers, and the clean washrooms and hot, steamy showers were much appreciated. Tony, the park manager, was kind and helped with whatever we needed. My partner and I chose the Glamping Timmins package, which came with a pontoon ride, a canoe and those excellent meals. We could choose to canoe when the weather was more bearable. We visited WildExodus over Labour Day weekend, when it was colder, and drove about 20 minutes from Timmins on a lightly gravelled road to reach the campsite. Our tent was ready with firewood and a fire pit, which was very welcome. Because of COVID, they were operating at 30% occupancy, so all our needs were met. I’d highly recommend it as a way to disconnect from the world.

We had a wonderful Labour Day long weekend at Wild Exodus, and the staff gave us a warm welcome despite the chilly, wet weather. They were so helpful and accommodating, and when the weather disrupted our plans, they arranged a replacement excursion. The food was delicious, with more than we could possibly eat, and we wanted for nothing. The facilities were clean and well cared for. It was everything we could ask for on our adventure and more. Thank you for the warm hospitality and attention to detail. You have a beautiful little slice of heaven, and I’m grateful you shared it with my family and me. We hope to join you again soon. Best regards, Chris.

Tony, the park manager and food purveyor, made mealtimes fun. JC is a great cook, and his mother is a great baker. The pontoon rides were fun too, and a special shout-out to the campground staff. People in Timmins were genuine and generous with their time. My husband and I celebrated my birthday and our 40th anniversary at WildExodus after I chose a Timmins trip because I couldn’t leave Ontario that year and hadn’t visited the area before. WildExodus came up while I was looking for a B&B, and it intrigued me enough to book. We chose the glamping experience for six nights, which was just right. The five included meals were all worth it, and we added two extra dinners. The food was amazing, made with excellent ingredients and generous portions: apricots, pineapple, wild blueberries, homemade baking, steaks, bison and wild fish. Meals were home-cooked, beautifully presented and three to four courses. The gluten-free baking they made for me was better than anything I’d found in the Toronto area. They even made my birthday special with balloons, flowers and a dessert. The men running the camp were genuine and competent, and treated us very well. It’s a campground, so you have to walk from your tent to the washroom, as expected. The tent, its contents and the washroom were all clean and nice. Furniture made on-site gave the large tent a homely, special feel, and the bed was great and comfortable. They were careful about COVID-19 precautions. The water was warm, clear and clean, and the sunsets were gorgeous every night. Thanks for making the visit so enjoyable, we’re spreading the word.

The food was advertised as “fresh and local,” but it was neither. For $30 per person, our shore lunch was disgusting and far too expensive: cold BBQ burgers and sausages, soggy tortilla cups with jarred salsa, warm sweaty cheese in plastic, and a plain white bun. The frozen oven fries were undercooked, and the onion rings were soggy and cold. The campsite also felt overpriced at $100 a night, with no public washrooms, laundry or Wi-Fi. The owners knew an active bear was visiting nightly and causing damage but didn’t tell us at check-in. There was no secure nighttime garbage storage for campers, only a daily morning pickup. After the bear made a mess, we requested a nighttime pickup; they did it once, then not the next night. I’ve never seen another campground be so lax about garbage and bear safety. Irresponsible owners and terrible food.
