The grounds are really lovely, and you’re close to U of T and downtown. It’s a dorm, so the rooms are basic, but the price is low and the staff are helpful. Bathrooms are down the hall, and there are no towels or shampoo, so bring what you need.
The building has a nice Victorian feel and sits right on the UofT campus. It can get hot in summer with just a ceiling fan, though they do provide a personal fan. There isn’t a drinking fountain, so you have to fill your bottle at the kitchen sink in the basement common room. Still, it’s reasonably priced compared with the city’s expensive hotels, and you get good value. Especially handy if someone at UofT can host you. I’d recommend it.
The building and courtyard are beautiful, and I loved having a writing desk. The rooms are basic, but the staff were friendly, everything was very clean, and the showers were good.
The shower wouldn’t drain, and there were bugs in the shared bathroom. There’s no AC, window screens, towels, or toiletries either. Saving a bit by staying in the guest rooms just isn’t worth it, especially during summer.
Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly, and the price was great. Just keep in mind that you’re staying in a university dorm. The location is excellent.
