AJ was the best part of staying at Jericho Beach Hostel. She was friendly, knowledgeable, quick, and kind, and offered to help with our luggage without being asked, which was a huge relief. The hostel is good, with comfortable beds and rooms, large lockers, and well-maintained, clean spaces. As an older traveler, I found all the stairs difficult. The location is lovely, though the uphill walk to the bus stop makes sightseeing less convenient if you have mobility issues. There's a marina about a five-minute walk across a park, with good food and great service, though perhaps pricey for most budget travelers. An elevator goes up to the cafe, where the view is like a picture postcard in real time. Back at the hostel, the bathrooms don't need key entry, which some may find uncomfortable. Jericho is the only hostel I've visited in many years with both showers and bathtubs. There are several comfortable seating areas, and it was easy to find somewhere quiet to relax during our stay. There were also great chances to socialize, so it offered both. Meet other travelers and take time to smell the roses.

The hallways and rooms are the most spacious I've seen in all my time in hostels. Some people may find it far from the city centre, but the building is a historic artefact, and I've only seen a youth hostel on the beach once before, in Kihei Hawaii. In the girls dorm, you may have to wait about 10 minutes for hot shower water. Once it comes, the pressure is awesome and there's plenty of heat. Go see the feral bunnies by the sailing centre, or eat at the sailing club restaurant. They have excellent food and a beautiful Vista, especially at sunset.

Hassan is a great guy, always polite and professional, and really well put together. AJ always has good tunes playing and is cheerful, with just the right amount of small talk.

The room smells sour, like feet. Still, the accommodations are great, the layout is good, the washrooms are clean, and they have a lovely kitchen.

The area is charming, and the bathrooms were very clean. It's a nice enough place, but shared dorms could use more outlets and better control over individual lights, like a reading lamp by each bed or a light for each quad pod. In the 14-person dorm, the lights went out before 9pm, so most people had to rely on their phone flashlights.
