The room was inexpensive, clean, and quite nice for the price, and I was happy with the service. There’s also a pleasant courtyard for picnics. The motel was quiet, but it sits beside the highway at the bottom of a hill, so traffic noise was constant and significant. Bring earplugs if that bothers you. We’d booked for two, yet there was only one bath towel and one shampoo packet. They fixed it easily, unless you only notice once you and your wife are already in the shower together.

I spent nine months here with manager harpreet and the staff, moving through six different rooms. I personally liked harpreet, even after her unprofessional behavior, and the staff were friendly and good people. But her rules were insane, like living under the wicked witch of the east. She’d kick people out and keep their deposits, and I saw her remove guests who had paid days in advance. There was no toilet paper, and despite what you might expect, there is no pool. The rooms I stayed in weren’t clean. I was in #11 most of the time and eventually cleaned it, scraping a layer of greasy sludge off the floors and tub. The other rooms weren’t cleaned by me. I found used needles, crack mixing supplies, mouse droppings, drugs, and signs of rodents. The upstairs rooms smelled moldy, and the air quality on floors 2 and 3 felt very poor. I felt as if mold spores were getting into my lungs, and friends and I got sick. The carpet seemed as old as me. Some rooms may be good, and staff did their best with limited equipment, but the owner cuts corners and it shows. Don’t bring your kids here. I don’t want anyone else getting sick or dying.

I walked out of the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and they wouldn’t refund us. The place stunk, with filthy windows and floors, dead flies, and an enamel tub worn away. The beds were uncomfortable even just to sit on. A phone number was written on the telephone for anyone who got bored, which I especially liked. It made my skin crawl. At least I had my cell phone to take pictures and back myself up.

The price was good, but the room smelled of cigarettes. I paid through Expedia, then the staff charged me again and said they’d refund it once they received payment from Expedia. It turned into a mess, and Expedia had to sort it out for me.

Polson Park Motel was unsanitary, and the area didn’t seem sanitary either. The hotel smelled, the bed had layer after layer of sheets and mattress covers, and the AC didn’t work. I suspect it was kept that way to keep bed bugs docile between guests. The email confirmation came with a virus attached, and the manager was completely unreasonable, refusing a refund even though there were no other rooms available in the Okanogan Valley. I’ll be contacting the BC Health Ministry about my health concerns. Don’t book a room at Polson Park Hotel.
