La Grange Country Inn

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The inn felt worn out, and both the accommodation and the way we were treated seemed shabby rather than rustic. A week before arrival, I received written confirmation for a specific named room I had reserved, but on arrival I was moved to another room because of “a business decision.” I couldn’t find anything in the policies about this, and the response was unapologetic and unwelcoming. The cooked oatmeal breakfast was cold, and I couldn’t identify what was in it, so I found it inedible. I had black coffee and a small dish of raspberries and yogurt instead. It cost $30 extra, though the owner later denied that. Try the Mill.

It’s a beautiful house in a quiet area, and you can see a lot of work has gone into making it comfortable. It would suit families well, with toys and colouring books, and it’s also a great place for friends or family to stay together.

Chris was attentive and made us a lovely breakfast. The sauna was great, and the place was very quiet at night. It was easy to head down to the restaurants in Wakefield too.

Chris was friendly and accommodating, and we felt welcome the whole time. The inn was perfectly located for exploring Wakefield, and also made a great place for my friend and me to relax and chat during our annual getaway. We chose Wakefield and La Grange, and it was just right. I highly recommend this lovely inn, it was much more than we expected.
