I had a wonderful week here. The people working were great and really friendly, and the stay was very accommodating. It’s an older house, so the rooms are on the small side, but there’s plenty of space around the property, inside and out, to relax.

The breakfast is always a pleasure to wake up to. Rooms are consistently clean, service is top notch, and the location is perfect. I had to give this place another review, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying here.

We spent a very enjoyable week here in late August. The staff and owner were friendly and accommodating, and they serve a hearty, delicious breakfast. The property is beautiful, tucked into a rugged mountain setting, and it worked well as a base for touring most of southern Yukon. It’s close enough to Whitehorse for a night out, but far enough away to feel peaceful. The nearby wildlife preserve is a must see. This was exactly what we wanted for our first trip to the territory.

The breakfast was the one good thing. The location might be a plus too if you happen to be there on a day when the northern lights are active. For a frequent traveler, this was the tiniest room I’ve ever stayed in. There’s barely space for the bed, and you can’t even leave your luggage open. There’s no desk for personal makeup, and the wardrobe is full of the host’s things. The walls aren’t soundproof, so I slept badly. I don’t understand the high rating. It was poor value for the money.

I was driving alone from Seattle, WA to Fairbanks, AK on the ALCAN over three days, doing 11-15 hours a day. I needed to be able to arrive late and leave early without waking anyone, and there aren’t many places to stay along the way. I wanted the last night of the drive to be a nice one. I got to Hidden Valley around 10 or 11 p.m., and, to my embarrassment, the owners had stayed up to welcome me. After a quick chat and an apology, I slipped into a very comfortable bed. I was up at 5 a.m., showered in a clean, nicely decorated and well kept bathroom, and left with the prepackaged breakfast they’d prepared the day before. I didn’t see or hear another guest. Even though my schedule meant I barely interacted with the staff and owners, they accommodated me really well and gave me a nice final night on an otherwise grueling trip. I’m sure it would be lovely for a regular bed and breakfast vacation too, and guests would be well looked after.
