Ivy Rose Motor Inn

I drove my family from Toronto to Windsor after 18 years, and it was their first visit to the city. The motel seemed reasonably priced. I asked the man showing us room 236 whether there were bed bugs, and he confidently said no. Around 1 a.m. my son woke up after seeing two bugs on the bed. We checked and found bed bugs, including in the other beds. We left in the middle of the night and checked into another motel, and our whole night was ruined. My child was bitten badly. The next morning we showed the man at the counter proof and asked for a refund. Instead of apologizing, he said they would investigate, and refused to give our money back. The service was horrible, and I'm shocked the place is still open. Atrocious. This place needs to be demolished.

If I could give this motel zero stars, I would. We found actual bed bugs in the bed, on the pillow, and the whole experience was traumatic. The blankets looked off, and despite the no-smoking notice, there were cigarette burns on the sheets. We showed picture proof of the bugs and asked for a refund, but they refused to return our money. Don't be fooled by the price. This place needs to shut down.

The rooms echo, and the walls are thin. There are only three outlets, plus tape on every light switch. The blankets are really warm, though there's no fan if you tend to get hot at night. We had free parking and Wi-Fi, but there wasn't a microwave in the room as advertised.

The rooms are a decent size, and you can still get a smoking room. Decor is a bit dated, and the front desk isn't staffed from 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. They may offer early check-in depending on vacancy, and late checkout is available. You can also leave a cash deposit if you don't have a credit card. It's a good budget option, though I wouldn't pick it for a nice family stay.
