Having no indoor hallways means you hear a lot of outside noise from the parking lot and nearby Main Street, since the rooms open straight outdoors. Breakfast was disappointing too, with just bread and bagels, no muffins or pastries, and not much fresh fruit. The building is older, but the rooms have been renovated to contemporary standards. The location is excellent, close to most things, and there's plenty of free parking.

The beds were comfortable, though people on the stairs and outdoor walkways made things noisy. The young woman serving breakfast gave nice service.

The remodeled rooms were comfortable and super clean, and the front desk was really friendly. Breakfast includes made-to-order food as well as continental options. The heated pool was a great bonus.

We stayed here at the start of our bikepacking trip and again on our last night before taking the CAT ferry back to the US. The rooms are basic, but the hot water was good and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We got back into town early, and they found us a room where we could put our bikes and clean up before the other rooms were ready. It's a quick walk to the ferry and downtown restaurants.

Booking the South West Inn for our crews has been nothing but a headache. I regularly arrange work hotels and try to keep them close to the job sites to make things easier for everyone. The service here hasn't been sufficient, they couldn't send me an invoice, and they were charging me more than double in US currency. When I checked prices online, I saw how dramatically we'd been overcharged. We work in the area often, but won't stay at this hotel again.
