Alpenclub

The cordon bleu was really enjoyable, with a crisp breading and a melty cheese filling that wasn't overpowering. The wienerschnitzel was excellent too, thin, tender, and golden with a light, crisp coating. The creamy spinach went beautifully with it. We also liked the well-seasoned tuna and salmon tartare, though at those prices we hadn't expected the salmon to be smoked wild salmon. The cheese fondue was watery and made with very young, mild cheese, so it lacked depth. There was far too much bread and too few pickles. In general, the food felt fairly average for the premium prices, though the place itself is charming, with Swiss-style decor, lots of wood, and cozy low ceilings. Go to the Alpenclub for the atmosphere rather than the food. We ate here three nights in a row. They only charged us for tap water on the last night, which seemed a bit weird. It also tends to be busy, so I'd book ahead.
