Hotel Moderne Genève

The bed looked awful, but it turned out to be really comfortable, and the shower was incredible. The old-fashioned building has character and plenty of little details, with rooms that follow the same look and a nice TV with lots of international channels. The walls let sound through, though. At night we could hear someone snoring in another room, and the included breakfast left a little to be desired. Still, the price is good, the hotel has what you need, and the location is very good. I highly recommend it.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is within two blocks of the train station, with easy public transport and access to the lake. The rooms are large enough, but the decor looks untouched for decades and tired throughout, including the bathroom. The bed was okay, with a firm foam mattress. It works for a night before catching a train, but if you want a Geneva stay you’ll remember fondly, I’d choose somewhere else. Apart from the elevator, it didn’t feel Moderne.

Hotel Moderne Geneva offers good value in a handy central spot in Geneva, Switzerland. It’s within walking distance of Lake Geneva and the main train station, which works well for business or leisure trips. The rooms are modern, clean, and well equipped, with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, and comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and obliging. There’s no restaurant in the hotel, but plenty of dining options nearby.

The staff we spoke with were friendly, though we didn’t have much interaction with them. The hotel is central, and the lake and train station are a quick walk away. The high ceiling was a nice feature, but the furniture looked like it was from the 80s and had seen better days. Sound insulation was really poor, both from other rooms and the street. We heard people screaming outside at night and others getting up in the morning. In the morning, we found mold in the shower and added photos. The blanket was very thin, though that may come down to preference. Given the room and other areas we could see, it didn’t feel worthy of the name “Hotel Moderne”; I’d call it “Hotel Old.” I’d pick another nearby hotel if staying close to the station.
