We generally felt safe, and everything was about a ~15-20min walk away, though locals said the area wasn’t the best. The room was small for two, but fine, and the staff were generally nice. The location was okay. One night we got back at 10:30pm after a long day and found there was no electricity in the room. No one answered when we called down, so we had to go back downstairs. They fixed it, but it was really frustrating to deal with that after a tiring day. Booking was a pain too, since I had to call. A few days before the stay, they cancelled one room I’d already paid for. I had to email to get it sorted and was stressed and worried. They said it hadn’t been cancelled, but then sent a new confirmation email and code, so clearly it had.

I liked being able to bring my own food for lunch in the diner and breakfast restaurant area. We could even use the cutlery and napkins, which was convenient. The rooms were okay. The hotel is fairly central, but it’s quite far from the UN buildings if you’re in Geneva to work at the UN. My main problem was the receptionists. They were middle-aged men with an unpleasant attitude. My colleagues and I all felt they hated their jobs and customers, and didn’t like us approaching them.

The elevator wasn’t working, so we had to take the stairs. After climbing to the 6th floor, we found our card didn’t work and I had to go back down and climb up again. Wi fi wasn’t working either. The rooms are classic low-cost ibis style, but the prices are more like Inter Continental style.

Eric at reception greeted me with a warm smile and was super nice. The hotel room was a decent size and reasonably clean, and the lobby was decent too. It’s right in the city centre, a very tourist-friendly location.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the clean, comfortable room was good too. Everything is walkable from this central hotel, including the train station, restaurants and attractions. Shout to ERIC for giving me all the information I needed about Chamonix Mont Blanc.
