We spent the summer there with six adults and a child. The cabin was cosy and well furnished, so we cooked our own meals each day and made lattes in the morning. The views were amazing, with Zermatt down in the valley and the Matterhorn in the distance when we woke up. There are a few things to plan for. It's a long walk down, and daily taxis up and down can get expensive, especially if anyone in your group has mobility impairments or you're carrying lots of luggage. There were occasional flies in summer, too. A taxi first took us to another Chelet Bergheimat by mistake. They were lovely and didn't charge us, but make sure the driver has the right address. Also, the road outside was part of the Zermatt Marathon on our departure day. We only found out when a taxi driver told us the day before, so we had to make some pretty drastic changes to avoid getting boxed in by road closures. Check ahead, and have a great time!

The chalet above Zermatt has an incredible view of the Matterhorn. In summer, the garden hot tub, camp fire, and BBQ are wonderful. We'd love to make this an annual trip. Thanks to Will and family for sharing your place!
