Hotel Felix

We couldn’t even open both our bags without blocking the door. The room was far too small for two people, with barely any clothing storage and nowhere to hang a used towel. After a shower, the only mirror fogged up because there was no bathroom fan. We asked for more space, but the staff showed little interest since we’d already paid. That was frustrating when the other rooms on our floor seemed much larger, and adjoining rooms were occupied by people on their own. It was a letdown at the end of an otherwise great holiday in this part of the world.

The building has real character. It’s an older place that’s been beautifully renovated, and it has a special feel that modern hotels don’t. My room was spotless, warm, and cozy after a day out in the city. The bedding was excellent and very comfortable, so I slept incredibly well. The staff were fantastic, professional, kind, and always ready to help. Everyone I spoke with had excellent English, which made things easy from the start. The location in the center of Zurich is unbeatable for exploring on foot. I stayed three days, and everything was honestly perfect. I’d gladly return and recommend it.

A few practical things caught us out. The pillows were a bit flat, so ask for extra ones before bed if you need them. The plug sockets are type J rather than the standard round EU kind. And there’s a slightly quirky curtain between the bathroom and bedroom, so agree with your room-sharing buddy on how you want it positioned. The hotel is in lively Zurich, close to the station and a short walk from the lake, churches, and other sights. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Also, if that’s your thing, there’s a brothel on the next road along! 😂

We were traveling with our 1.5-year-old and were glad the hotel had a baby bed. The receptionist explained the room and services in detail. It’s about a ten-minute walk to the Opera and the town’s main New Year tree. We were very happy with our choice. The hotel is very nice for the price. We added breakfast for 22 euros per person, and it was really good, with lots of fruit.
