HITrental Niederdorf - Apartments

Clean, good room and close to most attractions, but the night noise made it impossible to get a good sleep. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not a night person.

We arrived after a long flight from the US with a tired family, only to find that our key didn’t work. We tried to get help, but the office was closed and nobody answered on VRBO for hours. When I finally reached someone by phone, they explained there’d been a system issue and the code was different. They gave us the right code, and we eventually got inside after a long delay. The apartment gets very hot and muggy, and there’s no AC. You also have to haul heavy bags up the first flight of stairs before you can use the elevator. The bed felt almost like a futon mattress that had been slept on for way too long. An extremely poor experience on our first trip to Switzerland.

The ceiling in our room looked like it might give way, which was worrying, though the place did have all the amenities we needed. The building itself is really old and feels less than ideal as a hotel. Finding our room was a hassle too: the key had the wrong room name, so we spent ages checking different floors. It works for a stay, but there are better places nearby at similar prices.

Probably fine as a place for young solo travelers to sleep, but it felt more like a North American motel under $100 a night than an apartment.
