Mercure Zurich City

The spa, with its sauna and hammam, was a real bonus. Our room felt premium, neat, and comfortable, and the rooms were excellent value for money. The hotel is well connected to the train station, with frequent services that get you to Zurich HB in ten minutes.

For a budget friendly stay, this new hotel is okay. I spent four nights here. The room was as expected, comfortable, and felt like home. From the station it’s about a ten-minute walk, and Zurich HB is one or two stops away, which is good for the nightly price. There’s a minimarket nearby, though not much else to do around the property. A young man at the lobby desk, whose name I can’t quite remember, was helpful and had a big smile. Housekeeping, though, was a 2/5. Maybe my expectations are high because I’m from Southeast Asia, or maybe it’s the local culture, but they didn’t refill tea or coffee during my stay. Apart from changing bath towels and tidying the bed, they did little, and sometimes the trash wasn’t taken out. I also didn’t feel any benefit from my Accor Platinum status here. There was no welcome greeting in the room, no thanks for being a loyal member, no upgrade offer, and no information about welcome drinks. Well, I guess that’s Swiss hospitality 😊

We had a great weekend at Mercure Zurich City. The hotel was close to the city center by public transport, which was handy, and everything felt clean and new. My girlfriend and I booked a Confort bedroom for two and were luckily upgraded to a Privilege bedroom at no extra charge. The staff were consistently friendly, patient, and keen to help. The only issue was that the bar staff forgot one of our drinks.

The rooms were quiet and comfortable, so it was easy to rest after a full day. Mercure Zurich City is modern, very clean, and well maintained. Staff were professional, friendly, and attentive to details, and the service felt efficient and welcoming. A reliable, high-quality stay that I’d recommend.
