The cabin is large, well kept, and right beside a gorgeous river. Staff were excellent. Breakfast came to the cabin with all the fixings for us to make ourselves. Hot water for the shower was a little limited, but I’d definitely stay again.

The fishing guides are highly knowledgeable, helpful, and passionate about what they do. I fished with Rafa (Rafael) for two days and Joaquin for one. They know the rivers and lakes inside out. The fishing was outstanding, challenging enough that every catch felt like an achievement. While I was dry fly fishing, Rafa counted down “3, 2, 1,” and a fish suddenly leapt out of the water to take my fly right on “1.” There’s a huge range of fishing, from big rivers and lakes to confluences, class 3 rapids, and tiny, technical rivers. Every fishing day came with views of the northern Patagonian ice field and its stunning glaciers, a pretty great backdrop for photos with big brown and bows. You can fish as long as you want, with no set schedule requiring you back for dinner. One day we stayed out past 9pm! The Green Baker Lodge is in a very remote area, a beautiful 4.5 hour drive, mostly on dirt roads, from the closest airport. The remoteness adds to the scenery and means you don’t have to worry about other anglers taking your “spot.” The lodge sits on the banks of the Rio Baker, with breathtaking crystal blue water rushing past just steps from the cabin. Each guest or couple gets their own cabin, and meals are served in a cozy central dining room with a fire to keep you warm. The food was outstanding, with lots of variety. I can’t say enough good things about the Green Baker and Rafa’s operation. It’s a trip of a lifetime, whatever stage you’re at in your fly fishing journey, and one you’ll talk about for years. -Natalie (fishing guide in Alaska)

The location is breathtaking, and the rooms are nice, but they have limited amenities. The shower’s hot water kept cutting in and out, there was no kettle in the room, and the internet was poor there. For a good connection, you have to walk to the restaurant. There were also annoying dogs running around the property. The restaurant menu offers no choice, just one starter, one main, and one dessert. With no restaurants nearby, that’s very annoying. If you order a meal, agree on the price beforehand. They overcharged us for our kids meal even though we’d specifically asked for a kids meal, not an adult one.

Stunning views over the river Baker, wonderful cottages, and really nice staff. The restaurant food was great too. For the quality, the price was very reasonable. What more could you want?

Avoid this place at all costs! Their dogs attacked us on the road when my wife and I cycled past the property. They came within 5cm of my leg and nearly bit us. When I confronted the owner, her husband got as furious as the dogs and wouldn’t let me say a word instead of apologizing for the brutal attack.
