JW Marriott Hotel Bogota

For COP 500,000 per person, we expected much better. We went with family for Christmas Eve dinner and felt robbed. The food was cold and there wasn’t much variety. The band was too far away to hear or enjoy properly, and there didn’t seem to be any effort to make the setting family friendly. Staff recorded guests on video without asking permission and seemed more focused on that than on service. Unacceptable.

The JW Marriott Bogotá has become my favorite hotel bed anywhere. I travel frequently for work and have stayed in many luxury hotels, but the mattress, linens, and pillow choices here are the most comfortable I’ve experienced. The rooms are quiet even when events or other activity are happening elsewhere, and the soaking tubs are large and luxurious. The rooms are exceptionally well appointed, with things some hotels have dropped, including a proper shoe shining kit. They’ve thought of every detail, from the lighted vanity mirror to a small corner step for ladies to use when shaving. The property feels secure and well managed, and the location is excellent. Service is consistently gracious, professional, and attentive. They recognize Bonvoy status, with generous upgrades and beautifully presented welcome gifts. The executive lounge is one of the best in the Marriott portfolio, with seamless service and food that’s genuinely impressive, not routine. Breakfast is among the best I’ve had at a Marriott worldwide. There’s fresh-squeezed tangerine juice, elegant tea service, and several stations making hot food to order. The spread feels abundant and thoughtfully put together, a great start to a productive day. The hotel’s signature scent gives it a refined, welcoming feel as soon as you arrive, and every detail seems intentional and well managed. This is one of the most consistently excellent properties in the Marriott portfolio. I love this hotel in Bogotá and return whenever I’m in the city. It delivers what I expect from the JW Marriott brand.

The room had a dirty wine bottle in it. Really disappointing for such a high price in Bogota. The service was bad overall, and I wouldn’t stay again. I’m a Titanium member and had to fight with the front desk to get a junior suite upgrade. They plainly told me checking in at 4 PM would give me a better chance. I stay more than 80 nights a year at Marriott hotels, and I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous. Usually checking in late means upgrades are already gone, but being too early was a first. About 90% of the rooms were available, so I asked whether they were ignoring the merit policy and withholding upgrades. I even showed them that a junior suite could be booked. The agent “called someone,” then suddenly upgrades were available, including two suites.

The location is great, but there are other hotels in the same area. This one was dirty and the service was poor. The shower wouldn’t drain, the sink bowl was cracked, and there were stains and dirty windows. It wasn’t up to JW standards or pricing. I had late checkout, but my key card was deactivated and it took two trips to the front desk to sort out. No apology, and they couldn’t have cared less.
