Hostal Balcones de Salento

The people working here were incredibly kind and helpful, and made us feel at home. They did their best for us, though the service could use a little improvement. Our room and bathroom stayed clean, with staff cleaning regularly. It would help to have ventilation to keep the room dry, fresh smelling, and free of mould. Breakfast was simple but good: fruit, two slices of toast, eggs, jam, and coffee. I enjoyed the food, too, though the restaurant brought me chicken curry instead of the vegetarian curry I ordered. After taking the wrong dish away, they took at least 30 minutes to bring the right one. The portions were good. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an inexpensive stay in Salento.

The restaurant has a breathtaking view, and they can make generous, tasty vegan meals for a good price. We stayed in a clean room, and breakfast was included in our deal. It's welcoming, well located, and affordable. Give it a try even if you don't need a place to stay.

There are shops and plenty of places to eat nearby, and the main square is only about 15 metres away. This colourful little hostel includes breakfast and has a small kitchen upstairs. The room with a balcony is their executive room. Access could be tough for anyone with mobility issues: the road is steep, and there are concrete steps up to the hostel. I'd look elsewhere if you want somewhere quieter.

I booked a room months ahead, but they cancelled a few days before my stay without explaining why. Since most places were already sold out, I had to pay almost five times more for somewhere else. I wouldn't count on this booking.
