Hotel Shambala

A very clean, quiet hotel in a good location. It’s a spectacular place to relax after a day of sightseeing, with zero noise.

I appreciated how friendly the staff were and the hotel’s location, and I hope to return to Salento for a better stay. Here are a few things that could improve the experience. Our first room was on the ground floor, with no natural ventilation, and it felt excessively hot, making it hard to rest. Its closeness to the parking lot might be a factor, but the lack of fresh air was a real inconvenience. We also found a rodent in the bathroom trash can, which concerned me as a hygiene issue. The receptionist responded quickly and kindly, apologized, and moved us to a larger, cooler room on the third floor. I appreciated that. The basic breakfast was acceptable, but the coffee quality fell short of my expectations. In a coffee-growing region, I’d suggest offering better coffee, something many tourists appreciate. Parking was a great advantage, but we couldn’t use the available space because it was reserved for guests who never arrived. A clearer allocation system could prevent that. Perhaps the ground-floor rooms could be used for storage or something else instead of lodging, which might protect the hotel’s reputation and guests’ comfort. I believe we can all improve, and hope to stay here again someday.

The location is excellent, right in the city center, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, the only positive for me, in that perfect Colombian style. The rooms have no real windows, they face the corridor, and the bathroom is small, narrow, and windowless. They’re cramped and not soundproof at all, so with constant street noise it was impossible to relax.

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The reception staff were friendly and attentive throughout, helped us arrange activities, and let us check in early and leave our luggage while the room was being prepared. Our room was clean and quiet, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was an interior room with no windows, but being near the tourist area without the hotel feeling noisy meant we could rest peacefully. The Colombian breakfast was delicious and very complete. Highly recommended.
