Hotel Tramonto

The rooms could use updating, but we thoroughly enjoyed the last part of our girls’ trip here. The staff were so sweet and kind, and having the beach right across from the hotel was great. We also loved ending our days with a swim in the pool. The on-site restaurant was great, and breakfast was included. It’s at the far end of Jaco, away from the center, but only a seven-minute drive.

The rainstorm was the final straw. When we came back to pack, water covered the outdoor hallways and the power was out. Rain had also come into our room and soaked everything near the door. Earlier that day, the water had been shut off, so there was no shower, sink, or toilet. It came back relatively quickly, but it was concerning that breakfast was still being served while rooms had no water. The room smelled like warm garbage and musk, and the bed was terribly uncomfortable. At least the towel and blanket smelled clean. We got a crusty shower mat. My roommate and I didn’t see bugs in our room, though others in our group complained, and there were lots of large cockroaches in the hallway. The breakfast was just okay. Our group director complained to the company, and we found another hotel after exploring the area. We did see several red macaws, which was a bright spot, but we all had complaints. I’d never stay here again. There are nicer hotels within walking distance if you’re into surfing.

The view is great, but it really wasn’t worth the stay. We were booked for three nights and left after the first. The rooms were dingy and run down, with a warm garbage smell. There was no hot water, not even lukewarm, just cold. The first morning the water was off completely, so we couldn’t use the shower, toilet, or sink. When we came back to pack, the power was out, and gallons of rainwater had poured under the door and flooded the room. Our luggage, clothes, everything was soaked. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t book here, you’ll waste time and money.
