Residencial Casa da Luz

The manager and receptionist were both very friendly. My room had its own bathroom and was especially convenient for catching a boat the next day. The bedding could have been better, though. Noise didn't bother me personally. People can be loud in Cape Verde's streets, restaurants and cafés, much as they are in Naples, and the other residents matter too: some slam doors and some don't.

We had a wonderful stay. The host was so friendly and attentive, and went out of his way to help whenever needed. The hotel is in a good spot and offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend it.

The location makes it easy to explore Mindelo on foot, and the staff are happy to help if you need anything. I loved staying in the top-floor studio, especially the spacious terrace and magnificent view.

The location is handy for the port and city center, but that didn't make up for the condition of the place. It was run-down and dirty inside and out, and the rooms smelled strongly of mold. The toiletries were shampoo and shower gel left by previous guests. The bed was noisy, the pillow wasn't comfortable, and nights in Mindelo are awful, as they seem to be everywhere there.
