Hotel Adeba

Maybe we were just unlucky, but this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. The location is half an hour on foot or about 20 minutes by public transport from the old town. That's the one thing I found okay, since I felt the price reflected it. Our room was tiny, on the fourth floor, and felt like some strange leftover space. Hot water didn't work for most of our stay, and the WiFi signal was too weak for consistent work. There was barely any sound insulation, so we could easily hear the neighbors. Breakfast was mediocre, and after a few days it got boring enough that we went elsewhere. The staff were reasonably friendly, but not particularly helpful.

The location is great, which makes the condition of the place a shame. Our first room had a filthy shower and a broken sliding door. I complained at reception, but nothing was done. We asked to move and found the same problem, so we had to change rooms a third time. Thankfully, the staff member on duty that day was quite helpful. This isn't a one-star establishment, but keeping the furnishings in decent repair shouldn't be difficult when they're cheap and easy to replace. Proper cleaning shouldn't be difficult either.

Breakfast was poor, and the layout is a complete maze, mixing a 4* and a 3* section, neither of which looked better than a 2* hotel. The only four-star thing was the price when we booked. Our room floor was dusty and covered in hairs when we arrived. The WiFi was useless, and we got just one set of very tall pillows that couldn't be swapped. Even when switched off, the A/C was noisy at night.

We're already on our second visit and will definitely come back in the coming years. The rooms are clean and modern, and the staff are super nice, really okay. The only thing missing is smart TVs. Otherwise, everything gets five stars.
