The owners were friendly and helpful, and our room was clean. From the balcony there’s a fabulous view of the lake and mountains. The hotel is quiet, though one morning the hot air balloon burners woke me up, as you can see in the pictures. The hotel is nicely and peacefully situated near both the town and lake. There are sailing trips, walks, scenic drives around the lake, and even a small waterfall in the forest. It’s a friendly area with a nice atmosphere. The hotel accepts credit cards, but for other activities in the area, bring cash unless you have an EC or Maestro card. Breakfast was good too.

The rooms are the biggest letdown: the old furniture and carpets badly need updating. They may have some charm, but they feel far too dated. We also kept finding crumbs and lint left around during our stay, and the shower gel ran out after the two small sachets supplied on arrival. Housekeeping never replaced it, despite it being advertised as provided. Breakfast was tasty, though basic and the same cold cuts and cheese each day. Aside from eggs, there were no hot options, and no alternatives like salmon or Sunday roast beef. The owner was genuinely warm and seemed to enjoy looking after guests. The location is very central, with a bus stop outside and the ferry a few minutes away on foot. The hotel sits just behind the lakeside promenade. The pizzeria downstairs is okay but overpriced for the quality, and isn't part of the hotel. Bad Wiessee is very quiet and has few shops. It might suit older couples or families with small children, with plenty of nearby playgrounds and cafes.
