Hotel Europa City

The bed they called a double was a sofa with two legs missing, balanced on a pillow. It collapsed in the night. The pillows and blanket were thin, lumpy and mostly cover. The floor was loose planks under thin carpet, with garbage and a large white-gray mark under the table. The room smelled of urine, had other insects on the floor, and bed bugs. There were poop stains on the pillowcase and toilet, and puke marks on the stairs and curtains. The bathroom was tiny, had black marks in the shower, and about two centimeters of water across the floor. I left with the door locked and a do not disturb sign up, but came back to find it unlocked and wide open. The balcony railing looked like it could fall over at a glance, which didn't feel safe. The neighboring room was loud until 1:30 AM and staff did nothing. It was overpriced, and I can't think of a word for how bad this place was. Don't stay here.

I left as soon as I could in the morning. First they moved me because my room had no electricity, then around midnight someone unexpectedly walked into my room, apparently not realizing it was occupied. The worst experience.

We paid for the rooms and raised concerns about our booking, but the hotel wouldn't refund even a small part of the cost. The staff were indifferent, unhelpful and unfriendly from the start. For that price, I expected some basic care, and got poor treatment instead. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone expecting fair service or basic hospitality.

In room 214 I was the third guest, sleeping on a sofa, and ended up with bed bugs. I've stayed in over 100 hotels across 30 countries and never had anything like this happen before. It's wild to me that it happened in the middle of Europe. The staff's response was basically, “It is what it is, what can you do?” Maybe throw out that sofa and disinfect the old hotel, which looks like it hasn't been renovated in 20 years.
