Lindner Hotel Berlin Ku’damm, part of JdV by Hyatt

Being right in the heart of Ku’damm was the best part for me, with plenty of good food, shops, and transport nearby. The Globalist breakfast buffet in the lobby restaurant also exceeded my expectations. Alongside the usual options, there was currywurst, which I really enjoyed. The hotel is a little old, but affordable and met my expectations. I used a suite upgrade award for a one bedroom suite. It seemed set up more for small meetings, since the living area mostly had a meeting table rather than a couch, though there was a pull down bed for a second sleeper. The toilet was separate from the shower, off the living room before the bedroom door. There wasn’t a door between the bedroom and shower, so for privacy the bedroom door was the nearest one to close. The toiletries were a nice surprise: Pharmacopia, the kind usually found in Hyatt Regency, rather than a lower quality brand. The bed was two singles pushed together, and I could feel the mattress edges in the middle. The mattresses were a bit lumpy, though I still slept fine. The bedroom TV was comically small despite plenty of wall space for a larger one. The living room TV was much bigger. Light came through the gaps at the curtain edges, but I managed to hold one curtain past the gaps with a chair.

I’m grateful to the friendly front desk woman who checked me in around 10 or 11 a.m. on April 17. I don’t know her name, but she had a ponytail. She noticed it was my birthday and thoughtfully arranged a bottle of champagne. I really appreciated her kindness and attention to detail.

The breakfast that comes with the stay is actually good, which is rare in my experience. Staff were friendly, and the hotel was nice and affordable. I’ll definitely come back on a future Berlin stay.

Service was great, and the rooms were clean, though small. They do the job. The gym is off-site. Breakfast costs 20EU if you preorder, or 30EU if you order it that day.
