Kastens Hotel

At €163, this place felt far too expensive for what it was. I think its real value is no more than €60 per person. The service and facilities are no better than a two-star place, and I'm not sure how hotel ratings are handled here. There must be something wrong with the system. I know it's a busy period and this is a business city in Germany, but still, the place left a very bad impression.

Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty to choose from, including fresh fruit, eggs, bacon and muesli. We also appreciated the free Wi-Fi in the room and the complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. Our room was a good size, well equipped and quiet, overlooking the courtyard. The staff were helpful and nice, and we had a very pleasant stay at Kastens Hotel during our trip around Europe. We'd recommend it for either a short or longer visit, and plan to come back on our next trip.

The staff weren't friendly, and there was nothing special about this hotel. To me, it deserves one star. I've stayed in hotels in many countries, so I have a good sense of service, and I didn't expect this kind of place in Germany. Think carefully before booking.

The design has an interesting 80s avant-garde feel, though it got a bit painful after a few days. For a short stay, the room is big enough and decent value, and the staff are very nice. Breakfast, though, was below average.
