Hotel Smart-Inn

I’ve stayed here twice and made a point of coming back. It’s clean, quiet, and cozy, with a warm, welcoming feel. Everyone is genuinely kind and helpful. The second time, I was in a terrible rush, running late and unable to find a nice place with easy highway access. I called, and they did their best to help. Hats off to them. Breakfast is authentic, delicious, and healthy, with options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. A place really is its people.

The rooms were okay, though there was a bit of an old-stuff smell. Reception hours are limited, and some of the staff don’t speak much German, though their English is good.

The breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty. It’s a lovely little hotel, and the owner helped me book at the last minute when I got an afternoon email saying I had to travel from Belgium to Erlangen for a meeting the next day at noon. They left the key in a secure lockbox, so I could get in late at night and go straight to bed. Tall people, watch out for the low room doorways. I hit my head several times, hahaha.

The breakfast had lots of tasty choices, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The guy who checked us out even gave us caramel sweets, which was a nice touch. Our rooms and bathroom were clean and well organized, the beds were really comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked well. A good stay.
