Hotel Münchner Hof

It’s a decent room for anyone trying to save money, with the bathroom and toilet in separate rooms. There’s no air conditioning, but the host was kind and brought us a fan right away to cool things down. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the main station. Trams run constantly on the street, and nearby cafés play music in the evenings. There are markets and restaurants around too.

The checkout was the worst part by far. At about 10:30 AM, I tried to ask a question, but the front desk worker aggressively told me to bring my bags down and check out right then, even though the room door said checkout was at 11 AM. We did as he asked and came down with our bags, then tried to ask about transportation. He and another attendant nearby basically told us to go outside and figure it out, and rushed us out of the hotel. Some of the other front desk workers we met weren’t very friendly, but they weren’t outright rude. I also didn’t feel safe at the hotel or in the area, especially at night. The streets seemed fairly busy, but I still wasn’t comfortable walking around. I rarely write reviews, but this was such a horrible experience that I felt I had to. I would definitely never stay here again. I like finding a deal, but I’d gladly pay about $50 more a night for a nicer room and, above all, service that doesn’t make me feel like my business is a complete inconvenience. The room wasn’t the cleanest or the biggest, though that seemed about what I expected for the low price. The bathroom did look recently renovated. I appreciated that someone seemed to be at the front desk 24/7, especially since the elevator and stairwell are near the entrance and the rooms are easy to access.

This was my second stay, and it’s alright for what you pay. The location is good, the beds are fine, and the staff have always been nice. They even looked for another blanket for me. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned very well, and the room smelled a bit like food and cigarettes. Other guests clearly smoked in their rooms. It’s really noisy, and you can hear EVERYTHING!! If you want better quality, you have to pay more.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and the value for money is good. It’s easy to get to from the main station, with trams nearby, but the surrounding area didn’t feel very safe.
