We were in the middle of Hamburg’s coolest alternative neighborhood as soon as we walked out of the driveway, with groups partying and enjoying the terraces nearby. You wouldn’t know it from inside, though, because the sound insulation is great and we weren’t disturbed. The apartment looked freshly deep cleaned, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I can’t recommend it enough, 5/5 all around.

Right in the heart of the popular nightlife district, Schanzenviertel, this boarding house has a warm, considered feel. The rooms are nicely furnished, and the staff are polite and courteous.

August The Boardinghouse felt like a little quiet oasis tucked into the lively Schanze district. We were after a small kitchen and ideally two rooms for our one-year-old, and were thrilled with what we found. The apartment was spotless and lovingly furnished, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Even in cold February, it was warm and full of light, and surprisingly quiet given the location. We’ll definitely be back.

We stayed in the family apartment, which was charming and well equipped, with a lovely terrace. It made a convenient base for seeing the city, and the internal courtyard kept the lively neighborhood’s noise outside, so the apartment was incredibly quiet. The people running it were extremely kind and helpful, and everything was well organized. The single room was really tiny, and the queen-sized mattress was too soft for me.
