Basement Hamburg - Hostel

The house is only about six minutes from the bus stop, which made it easy to get around the city. I stayed in one of the shared rooms in the basement apartments; mine was spacious and clean. The kitchen was nice and had all the amenities, with complimentary bread and coffee for breakfast. Service was great, and they even let me check in before the official time. I’d definitely recommend this place.

I’d still recommend staying here. The rooms were fine, though a bin would be a welcome addition. I took off one star because the coffee machine wasn’t working during my visit. The other star was for the check-in: it starts at 14:00, but when I was shown my room at 14:23 it wasn’t ready. It wasn’t a huge problem, since I sat on the lovely terrace for a few minutes. But after a three-hour coach ride I needed to freshen up, and the lady was still cleaning the amenities.

The room was spacious, and the kitchen was well equipped with free coffee and some breakfast items. The staff were quite nice, and there’s a small garden for sunny days. It’s very close to Hamburg University. The toilet and bathroom are separate, but there’s no basin in the toilet.

We got lucky and had a room with its own garden access. The beds are very basic, but acceptable for the price. If you’re tall, ask for a bed without ends. It was 32 degrees while we were there; there’s no air conditioning, but the basement stayed cool. Check-in was a bit difficult because you have to be at the hotel before 20:00. I’d recommend the hotel find a solution for that. Good value for money!
