Hotel Villa Wandsbek

Online check-in was quick and straightforward, so arriving late wasn't a problem. My room was spotless, and the bed was so comfortable that I slept really well through my three-night stay and felt refreshed. The hotel is about a three-minute walk from the nearest S-Bahn and U-Bahn station, which made getting to the city center easy. I can absolutely recommend it and am already looking forward to staying in Hamburg again.

I don't want anything more to do with this place. After I gave up trying to get in and left for another hotel, they called me three hours later. I had a reservation, but check-in didn't work, I couldn't enter, and nobody answered any of my four calls. I'm fine with having paid the fee even though I couldn't stay, and I'm not asking for a cancellation or refund. Still, it's the worst hotel imaginable, and I don't recommend it at all.

The check-in through the app and phone worked perfectly, with no paperwork to fill in. I can't really judge the service since I didn't have breakfast included or order anything from the room menu. For the price, it was acceptable, though the room looked a bit dated and could use some investment. We had coffee, a kettle, and a bottle of water from the hosts. I skipped the tea because the slightly crumpled envelopes looked as though they'd been around for a while and through several hands. There was also a welcome chocolate and earplugs, which I didn't use. Cars from the main street start to be audible around 06:30. The beds were comfortable, two pushed together, and the windows don't have curtains, so the room gets very bright at sunrise. I noticed a mini fridge in the hallway when we left. The location is good for a city trip, about 5 km from the center, with metro, bus, and S-Bahn nearby. We only needed a bed and shower, so it suited us as a place to stay while out visiting the city. It's probably best for people in transit who don't have especially high expectations.

The S-Bahn and U-Bahn are nearby, with several supermarkets close too, including a big E-Center. We spent one night here and were very happy with it: the room was roomy and spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the duvet was so cozy we took a photo of its label to find a replacement. There was a kettle, which was enough for a short stay. For longer visits, a small fridge would be useful, especially since the hotel doesn't serve breakfast. I'm very sensitive to noise and didn't hear anything, though maybe nobody was staying in the rooms above us. If you're booking on the second floor, bear that in mind. We'll definitely come back :)
