The room had a few problems that staff eventually fixed, but they were so obvious that I don’t understand why it was assigned in that condition. At check-in, one receptionist made a very inappropriate, unsolicited remark about my country of origin and was VERY unprofessional. I’ve had much better service at other IntercityHotels in German cities. I wouldn’t stay at this Hamburg location again.

The AC is loud and sounds like it’s falling apart. The place offers only the bare minimum, and I can’t recommend it. What really bothered me was having to create an account to access Wi-Fi. There’s supposedly a code option, but when I asked at reception, they said they’d been told to give it only to business meeting guests. I guess regular guests matter less.

4/10
The hotel feels stuck in the 90s, with dull interiors and no lively colors. The location near the main station is handy, but the busy main road is noisy. Rooms are stuffy, and the bathroom smells musty. The air con sounds like a train running through the room, yet without it the room is too stuffy. Wi-Fi requires signing up for the hotel chain rewards program and creating a profile with a password, which is ridiculous. There’s an option to ask reception for an access code if you don’t want to join, but when we called, they said it was only for banquet customers. Ridiculous. I definitely won’t stay at an Intercity Hotel again.

The room was spotless and the location and service were great. Check-in was a bit busy, but I didn’t mind once I saw the room.

6/10
The location is great, though check-in can get very busy. I was allowed to switch rooms in hopes of better air conditioning, but the second one was only marginally better. If you’re relying on the advertised AC, don’t expect much. There was literally no cold air blowing as you’d expect from a property advertising air conditioning.
