MAC City Hostel

The hostel was good value for one night and well connected to the places we needed to reach in central Hamburg. Our group of six didn't run into problems with strangers. Everyone got their own keycard, which was great, and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and the facilities worked and were clean too. The corridor and stairwell smelled off, though, and the beds could have been more comfortable.

The staff were nice, but the hostel was unclean and the whole experience was really bad. There was an unpleasant smell everywhere that made me feel like throwing up, and the bathroom was disgusting. I couldn't bring myself to shower because going in there made me feel sick. There was no privacy. Someone came into the room without asking, and a woman would look into my room every time I opened the door, which was really creepy. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone.

The staff were friendly and nice, and for this price the hotel is okay. But the bathroom and toilets are dirty, and the kitchen is very dirty too. Keep an eye on your luggage, because people steal things from there. The room sometimes stinks when there are many people in the hotel.

The receptionist was the one positive, very polite and composed. Everything else was so bad I checked out as soon as I saw the hostel. I started doubting my choice at the front door, then found it disorganized, unclean, worn out, and old. I can't understand how anyone could give this place five, four, three, or even two stars. What sort of place would make this seem acceptable, even for an hour? Go and see for yourself.
