Such a comfortable, family-friendly place. The bedrooms are really comfortable, and the customer service is excellent. We love coming here to unwind, enjoy the nature, food, and wine, and go for a swim or use the sauna. Already looking forward to our next visit, hopefully soon!

The setting by the water and among the woods was beautiful, and we enjoyed the fresh air. Parking was easy, and the staff were people doing their best, so I’d give service three stars, with five for the location. But we checked into a room that hadn’t been properly cleaned, and the old building was noisy. The family or river dancers upstairs made it hard to rest. The fold-out couch for our two-year-old had metal showing all over, was noisy, and felt impossible and dangerous to sleep on. Food at the restaurant was bland and too expensive for what it was. The room and facilities get one star. For the money, it wasn’t good value.

The chef was super friendly, and the fish and chips were easily the best in Hamburg. They tasted just like the good stuff back in the UK, proper quality. I came by not long ago and can’t wait to return.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, since we were at a golf club about a 10-minute walk away, but we kept coming back to eat on the terrace at Schleusenbude. The cobbled riverside spot has plenty of seating, and it was lovely to sit in the sun with freshly made food. THE PIE GUYS serve amazing Welsh street food, including fantastic fish and chips and beautifully presented homemade savory pies. Everything was very reasonably priced, and we wished we could’ve tried the whole menu. The beer and wine were excellent too, and the staff were friendly. Brilliant concept. Thanks PIE GUYS, hope to see you again. Definitely recommend stopping by when you’re in the Hamburg area.
