It was good value and we had a good stay. The rooms were modern and comfortable, despite the rustic neighborhood and traditional bar room. The staff were friendly too. Getting to Hamburg city center takes about 50 minutes, and the bus only runs once an hour on weekends, so plan ahead.

I’ve been coming here regularly for 8 years. The owners are lovely, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are beautiful, right in the heart of the Altes Land region, which is especially lovely during fruit blossom season. The traditional food is delicious, and they almost always accommodate special requests. Add in that incomparable Hamburg humor, and it’s a great place to stay.

The room was clean and tidied every day, but the rest was disappointing. We were left outside when we arrived, then handed a room key without anyone showing us around, including where the breakfast room was. Breakfast was included, so we tried it on the first morning and then decided to buy our own food. The rolls were rubbery and there was no real choice of cold cuts or similar. The boiled egg was the one good part. The welcome was completely unfriendly.

We were there for work, and whether to eat there is entirely up to you. The rooms were clean. It’s a nice little inn with a hotel attached, but the owner advertises Wi-Fi on the website even though it doesn’t actually exist.
