Parkhotel Atlantic Heidelberg

We'd happily stay here again. The room was bright and clean, with a super comfortable bed, and the reception staff were among the friendliest I've encountered. Breakfast was not only good but great value too. I loved being able to walk to the palace while staying away from the city's noise, and the price was fantastic.

The location is quiet and the bed was comfortable, but the rooms feel dated and the hotel's interiors need renovation and a proper clean. Breakfast was okay, though fairly limited, with nothing hot and no eggs.

We stayed in a comfort room in the annex, with a sunroom, and got one of the hotel's four parking spaces. Other guests with cars had to park on the narrow road outside the walls. The hotel is on a narrow lane high above the castle, about a 20-minute walk away. We left the car and hiked down to the castle, then continued down lots of steps to Heidelberg's old centre. Good exercise. There aren't any restaurants, bars, or shops near the hotel. Our room did have a fully stocked bar fridge, and we brought snacks from the grocery store at Markt Plaza.

It's a long way out of Heidelberg, and the hotel sits even higher than the castle, which is about a half-hour walk away. Still, the place is beautiful and friendly, and the rooms are quiet and comfortable.
