das HOTEL in Munchen

The location was great, close to everything we needed. But the bed wasn’t comfortable: we asked for a king size and got two beds, and the mattress has left my back hurting.

There were plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the hotel was nicely situated. Our room was clean and had A/C. Staff were helpful and spoke English. Breakfast had a decent selection of both savory and sweet options. A very nice stay!

The rate was inexpensive and the rooms were decently decorated, which is the only reason I’m giving two stars. We had a lot of problems. Hot water was hard to get, and several employees weren’t helpful when we raised it. They mainly blamed a full hotel and too many people showering at once, but my husband still got cold water at 6 a.m. There was also an on-and-off sewage smell in the bathroom. Wi-Fi kept cutting out even on our room’s dedicated network, with a “ticket limit exceeded” message. We shared the room with another couple because it was advertised as having a full double bed and two twin beds. The “twin beds” were just floor pads with mattress toppers. My friend asked three times for a topper for her pad and slept on the small sofa the first night, since reception closed at 9. The included breakfast was among the most limited I’ve seen on our Europe travels. The advertised 24-hour reception wasn’t available: the desk closed at 9. When we called that first night about the hot water, the person who answered seemed confused about why we’d called that number and said they’d call someone else in the morning. I don’t think I’d recommend this hotel.

Most of my stay went well, but the parking situation was a disappointment. I called before traveling to confirm a space was available, and they said it was. There was a free space in the backyard when we arrived, but at check-in I was told I needed to have booked it, and that a spot was available for only one night at 12 €, with nothing for the second night. Parking is difficult in much of Munich, so that was a bummer. Also, the room wasn’t tidied after our first night. I can understand that for a two-night stay, but then I don’t think it should be advertised.
