Breakfast was really good, with plenty of cold and hot choices, sweet and savory food, vegetarian options, and meat dishes. The breakfast service was exceptional. There are restaurants and bakeries around, plus a rewe and aldi across the street, and being close to the S-Bahn is a clear advantage. The room was so cramped that two people couldn’t pass each other. The little hallway was the only place for a suitcase, leaving room for very little unpacking. Communication with the receptionist was frustrating because she gave partial or incorrect information.

We had a very nice hotel, with a great breakfast and a grocery store across the street, but the housekeeping experience was bad enough that I won’t stay at this location again. My son and I spent three nights at this Hampton, and our room wasn’t cleaned once. We left around 8-9am and came back at 4-5pm, only for housekeeping to knock after we’d shut the door and ask if we wanted cleaning. We didn’t want to sit in the lobby while they did it, so we just asked for fresh towels. The same thing happened both days. It seemed like a clever way to avoid doing the job. At checkout I told the front desk what happened, and they asked whether we’d left the do not disturb sign up. We hadn’t. Then they said housekeeping staff don’t get paid for rooms they don’t clean. I suggested checking the records and left it there. I’ve spent 72 nights this year at Hilton properties, and this was the only bad experience I’ve had, though it could have been prevented.

I liked almost everything here. The beds were comfortable, the TV had plenty of channels, though all in German, which was disappointing. Breakfast was amazing and included, luggage storage was free, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We had a great pizza and beer at the bar. The glass bathroom door caused awkward moments even though I was traveling only with my husband. There was a conveniently placed mirror outside it, so it felt hard to avoid seeing what was going on in the bathroom. At night, the bathroom light lit up the whole room. Still, we had a great stay, and at least now I know for a fact that my husband wipes his bum after using the bathroom.

The team deserves a pat on the back. From check-in through checkout, we felt welcome and valued, and we’ll be back. Hilton gold members can get two free items from the receptionist. Parking costs $23, with $3 off for Hilton members. Street parking is free if you can find a space. This hotel really is a gem among average places.
