Hilton Garden Inn Feldkirchen

Getting around Bavaria was easy from here, since catching a train was quick and simple. We had a great stay, with a lovely, clean, tidy room, amazing breakfasts, and excellent staff. Really recommend it.

The location and rooms are fine, but dinner service was a problem at times. Sometimes the cook was "too busy," leaving most guests to skip the meal or go elsewhere. Guests shouldn’t have to persuade the staff just to be served because the cook doesn’t feel like cooking. Our water and soda arrived after the food, which itself came almost 30 minutes later. I hope this was just a bad day, not something that happens regularly.

The smoke smell in my room was the main problem, and the way it was handled made the stay worse. When I first told the receptionist the room smelled strongly of smoke and asked if it was non-smoking, she gave a vague answer, suggested opening the windows, and said no other room was available. That night the smell was unbearable. The night receptionist was much more understanding, lent me her own deodorant to cover it, and came to inspect the room after I asked. She confirmed the issue. I asked for another room again the next morning. The first receptionist refused at first, saying the hotel was full, but agreed to look for an option after I mentioned her colleague had verified the smell. It seemed there were rooms available, yet I had spent the whole night in a room that reeked of smoke. Housekeeping should have caught it before check-in, and the hotel should have moved me when I first complained. Room service also entered twice without notice on the morning of checkout, before checkout time. At checkout, getting a business invoice took more than 15 minutes, and the receptionist seemed irritated by my request. This was my worst Hilton experience. I won’t return to this property or recommend it.

The bed was really comfortable, and breakfast staff kept checking that everything was going well. At reception, the man gave us a very warm and kind welcome.
