Mercure Hotel München Süd Messe

The bed was comfortable, but that was the only good part of our five-night stay. The cleaning was very poor: even when we asked, they just changed the towels and didn’t really clean. This didn’t feel like a four-star hotel to me, maybe two stars, and it wasn’t worth the price. I’d come with a friend to celebrate her birthday. I asked reception on the second day if they could arrange something small, and they said they would. I had to remind them every day, and only on the fourth day, after her birthday had passed, did they bring a tiny cake to the room. I appreciated that gesture, but the service was very disappointing. Then at 8:00 the next morning, while we were asleep, a staff member came into our room without knocking, ringing, or getting permission. She left some chocolate and a small birthday poster, then walked out. Fifteen minutes later she came in again, still without knocking, took the items back, and said, “Continue sleep, girl.” We were lucky to be asleep, so we didn’t say anything at the time. I’ve never experienced anything so unprofessional at a hotel. I wouldn’t return.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a very good bed, and breakfast had plenty of variety. The hotel follows a green policy, so you need to ask if you want your room cleaned. It’s clearly stated on a big banner, people just need to read it. The location suited me: four stops to U5, which takes you to the main sights. I also like staying outside the main tourist areas because it helps me understand people and their way of life. We had five lovely nights and six days here, and I’m very grateful to the whole team for greeting us with a smile each morning. A big thank you to our Georgian girls, Lalikos and Guli, and especially to Guli for helping us enjoy our stay. I also want to reply to the girl (Nino Zaqutashvili) who said someone entered her room without permission. It was my birthday, and the Georgian girls had wanted to surprise me. We weren’t at the hotel then, and they knew that. The housekeeper got confused, opened the wrong door, and unexpectedly found guests inside. She realized immediately it was the wrong room. Everyone knows this isn’t allowed, and I’ve heard it’s been explained several times. We’re all human and mistakes happen, so I’d like to apologize on their behalf. It was something like “Marine giorgis asuli Peradze” :))) I’d have treated it as one of those funny little stories instead of making it hurt the hotel’s rating.

We were enjoying our stay on 13/Feb until breakfast. A female duty manager, who was Indian, rudely took our plates while we were still eating. Her behavior was unacceptable, and we wonder how she got that job at a hotel with such a good reputation.

Our room had a smoke smell that stayed throughout our visit, which made a bad experience worse. At breakfast, my family and I were first in line, waiting politely for the restaurant to open at 6:30 AM. A woman who seemed to be the manager told us in German to move aside to “make space.” We didn’t understand, but then more than 20 people from other tour groups who did understand German were let in ahead of us. Even an Asian tour group that arrived after us got in first. We stood off to the side, ignored, watching people go in until members of our own tour group entered and we realized we’d been pushed aside. Whether it was intentional or not, we felt singled out and unwelcome. It was humiliating and deeply disappointing from an international hotel brand that should treat guests equally. I hope management takes a serious look at staff training and room maintenance. I can’t recommend this hotel.
