Our room smelled horrible from the dirt and mould, which seemed to be growing all over the place. The bathroom vents had been covered with tin foil, so there was no ventilation to clear moisture. Our window hinge was broken and could have fallen on us while we slept. This was far beyond a budget hotel’s condition, absolutely foul. The staff at breakfast both mornings were busy on their phones and sent us away when we tried to raise issues. We waited 45 minutes the first morning and 30 the second. They also advertised services that weren’t available. We chose the place specifically because the website listed laundry service, but staff said they didn’t provide it. We had to spend half a day of our short trip doing laundry ourselves, far away. There were no hairdryers either, a real problem in midwinter. When we sought a refund through our travel agency, they refused, saying they hadn’t heard about the complaint.

They left me outside at night in winter with all my things, even though they had processed my payment properly. There was nobody available to help me get into the venue or offer support, and they wouldn’t answer the phone. They clearly don’t care about their clients. Don’t stay here.

The staff were kind and professional, and there’s a nice open-air market close by. The area felt completely safe, and Marienplatz was only five minutes away. Breakfast was good, with savory options, sweets, and unlimited juices. Just be aware there’s no lift in the building.

Lots of attractions are within walking distance, so this is a very convenient base for a day or two exploring Munich. Booking.com has good deals. Everyone at reception was nice, especially Anita, though I’m sorry if I got the name wrong. The breakfast buffet deserves a plus one too.

You can walk to Viktualien market and Marienplatz in about five minutes. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was wonderful, with fresh bread, deli meats, cheeses, yoghurt, and coffee.
