Hotel Tessin

The room was small and dated, and it felt more like a hostel. The walls are thin, so you hear people coming and going, plus there were drunk people around because there's a bar next door. The elevator only goes up to reception, with stairs beyond that for the rooms. In the room, the online price seemed cheap, but at the hotel they charged double or triple. When I asked to extend, the receptionist quoted me more than he quoted someone who called just afterward. It didn't seem system generated, he appeared to choose a price himself. We were also asked to pay again when we arrived, even though the online booking said they would charge our card if we didn't show up. The male receptionist could barely find our reservation and made us wait. The female receptionist flatly said no when I asked to use the phone to call the hospital, then wouldn't look at me. The desk staff leave around 10 or 10:30 pm. If you're arriving late, you have to tell them ahead of time or there may be nobody to help. You also have to ring the bell to get the glass door opened, but they didn't answer our email about that. Luckily, we got there before closing.

Tianna at the front desk and the cleaning lady were both wonderful. I really think they deserve a big pay rise. My kids and I felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay at hotel Tessin, and it was an amazing experience. We'll be heading back to London tomorrow, but I'll absolutely stay here again when I visit Munich. I was nervous after reading the bad reviews, especially since people seemed to have trouble getting in after the desk closed at 10 pm. I don't speak German and had never been to Germany, and finding a triple room for my vacation with my children, aged 15 and 7, was difficult. Hampton by Hilton first said they couldn't confirm my booking, so I booked here instead. Since we'd arrive well after 10, I called in advance to make sure we wouldn't be stranded. They gave me a number to call for building access and left our room key in a coded lockbox.

We found the staff very helpful, and the location worked well for our needs. There was a main train line nearby, as well as enough bus routes to get around. The rooms were somewhat small, as many people have said, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The beds were comfortable enough.

The front desk staff were all absolutely lovely. Our room was clean and nice, on the small side but had everything we needed. You could hear some hallway noise through the walls, and the shower pressure was really low. It could definitely use a bit of attention. Still, all in all, a nice hotel.
