Motel One Nürnberg-City

My sister and I came for a little treat, but had a really awful stay and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We waited in the lobby for 45 minutes while the receptionist kept telling us to hold on, chatting on his phone and making call after call. By the time we were checked in, it was almost 3am. As we got into the lift, a man ran out and shouted a racist remark. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it made an already bad night worse. Our duvet was shockingly small for two people to share. Later, we saw police in the corridor and heard dogs barking. The man was with more police by the lobby, so my request for a different duvet was brushed aside. I understand he may have been handling something more serious, but I slept badly. I woke up with severe neck pain and couldn’t move my neck, which really affected my trip. The service alone is enough for me not to recommend it.

The room was very quiet, with no outside noise, and the hotel is handy if you need the train station. It’s also about 5 to 10 minutes from St Lorenzo church and the center. The rooms are nice, though ours was so cold. I’d asked for an upper floor when I booked, but got a lower floor instead. When I raised it, I was told there had been no response to my request, even though I’d made it a month before arrival. If you need to be near the station, the location is perfect.

The location worked really well, no more than a five-minute walk from the main railway station and Altstadt. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are nice, though there’s no kettle or hot drink setup in the room. Downstairs, the bar stays open 24 hours and is quite good. Breakfast costs a lot, but it’s fresh, has plenty of choice, and you can eat enough to skip lunch. A nice little hotel.

The rooms are up to a good standard and there’s a nice bar. It’s close to the center, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and sights nearby. Being near the train station is convenient if you don’t have a car. There’s paid parking too, but space is limited.
