Haus Panorama

The whole place smelled like a damp cellar. In the bathroom there was dust and spiderwebs, and there were no bars on the ground-floor windows. The beds squeaked with every breath, and only thin blankets were available. There was no nearby parking, just paid lots 0.5 km away. We knew the bathroom was shared, but were told it was between two rooms and accessible from the room. In reality it served four or five rooms and was at the end of a hallway. The price was the cheapest around and the location pretty good, but I still wouldn't expect to pay more than 20 EUR for a room like this.

We arrived after dark and had to climb three flights of uneven, unlit stairs to reach a key locker. Its sensor light left us in the dark while we entered the code. The room smelled damp as soon as we got in. I saw three spiders in the room straight away and two more in the bathroom. At first glance it looks clean, but there was dust in every corner, and grime and fingerprints on the doors that looked like they hadn't been cleaned. After two weeks in AirBnB's that were twice as nice for half the price, I'd urge people to find somewhere better than this second-rate student motel.

Passau is a lovely historic town with plenty of places to eat or have a drink, and this place is perfectly located. The rooms are fine, though the bathrooms are shared. That does mean it isn't expensive at all.

The staff were great, and it's a really good place to spend the night when visiting Passau.
