Pension Am Tiefen See

We really enjoyed staying on this floating hotel. The room was thoughtfully laid out, with its own bathroom, aboard an old sightseeing boat.

A quiet spot near the lake, in an old house with older furniture. The staff speak Russian, and breakfast was good.

Breakfast was delicious, with all the usual things and hot dishes that change regularly. They gave us a taste of the hosts' traditional cooking, too. The rooms are all decorated differently, with lots to look at, and anyone who likes antiques should enjoy it here. The gentlemen's apartment felt like being inside Sanssouci Palace :). A real little gem right in Potsdam, and definitely an insider tip.

This left a very unprofessional impression, and we won't be coming back. In the past, breakfast was missing despite being part of our reservation. We let that go at the time, but it adds to the concern. The main problem was our booking. As other reviews have said, our confirmed reservation was given to someone else even though we hadn't cancelled. We'd only called to ask about changing the arrival and departure dates, and were told that wasn't possible. That was fine. We never asked to cancel or change the length of the stay, so the booking should have stayed in place. After we were told it had suddenly been given away, the accommodation wouldn't help us find somewhere else, despite the mistake being theirs. If you count on plans being dependable, keep this in mind, especially if you're a regular guest.
