The terrace and little lawn were nice, though some neighbors cut across them on the way to the bins instead of walking the extra few steps. That was one of a few small annoyances, and we’d still come back. The apartment was a good size for a short stay, in a nice location, and felt safe for children because there was little traffic. We stayed in the smaller unit, which was set up for three, but there was only one teaspoon. We also missed pot lids, dishcloths, scissors, and a drying rack. The information folder mentioned a towel warmer, but we couldn’t find one. There were plenty of cleaning products, dishwashing supplies, toilet paper, tissues, and dishwasher accessories. You can book the whirlpool, but only up to 24 hours before check-in. We wanted to use it, but got no reply to our email the day before. By the time we tried calling on arrival, the information folder said we were too late.

Dogs are very welcome, though the property isn’t fenced, and the terrace is only screened off from the neighbor’s. The setting itself is beautiful, surrounded by forest and lakes, and very peaceful. Sadly, the people in the adjoining bungalow were loud. There are only two doors and a thin wall between the units, so the noise carries.

The whirlpool was so heavily chlorinated that our silver jewelry turned black, and three hours after we arrived on the first day someone rang the bell to collect the €90 fee. I can’t believe guests on vacation were bothered like that. The dishes and dishwasher were dirty, so we had to clean everything before using it. The place felt old-fashioned, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The flat was advertised for five, but there were only four chairs, with a sofa beside the dining table, and the furnishings felt like a jumble of whatever the owner had found. We found dirty dishes, plus underwear left by previous guests behind the washing machine and in the closet. There was mold in the bathroom too. The hot tub cost €30 a day and was filthy. I suspect Ms. Reiger doesn’t change the water and instead adds far too much chlorine, because after three days of swimming our swimwear had lost its color. The owner, Ms. Reiger, also came to the door at 3:50 p.m. to ask why we hadn’t left the hot tub cash in the key box, even though the note said someone would collect it in the early evening. We’d only just begun unpacking and settling in. Calling that early evening is a stretch, and it rather defeats the point of contactless key exchange. This rental was simply disappointing. The owner charges for everything but provides no service. If Ms. Reiger is so worried about the property, she should stop renting it out.
