Hosteria Canoa

We stayed with our three dogs and will definitely come back. The rooms were clean and very nice, breakfast was included and delicious, and the location right in front of the beach was excellent. The staff were also extremely kind and helpful. A great place to stay!

Our group of 16 had a lovely four-night stay at Hostería Canoa. The food was good, with lots of fresh seafood, and staff were happy to prepare meals for us. Each day they set up two little tents with chairs on the beach. We enjoyed walking and swimming there, though two people got minor jellyfish stings, and we watched the sun set around 6:30pm every evening. We felt safe on the property and walking to and from town, though we kept to daylight hours. It’s under a ten-minute walk along the beach to Canoa’s main strip, but far enough away for quiet nights. The price was great value. Since it was low season, we got eight cute cabins for 16 people, each with two rooms, so everyone had a room of their own. We liked being close to the pool, which had a nice mix of regular and lounge chairs. The employees were friendly, quick to respond on WhatsApp, and glad to help with requests like filling water bottles, spraying for ants, and bringing fresh towels. We knew there was no air conditioning, but some people slept poorly in the heat; the fans in each cabin helped. A couple of cabins had ants, and some animal, possibly a bird, pooped on our beds twice in ours. Wi-Fi was mostly okay, but don’t count on streaming video, and it doesn’t reach inside most cabins. Gladys, the friendly cat who lives in the lobby, will be missed! The pool and grounds were in perfect condition, the rooms were cleaned daily, and laundry was available. We also enjoyed the provided breakfast. The hotel felt very safe and was an easy walk to town in under five minutes, while staying away from the noise and lights. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help, including when we were stung by jellyfish and when they called taxis and buses for us throughout the stay.

We stayed in cottage 7, which was clean and fresh, with daily towel changes, a fridge, TV, ceiling fans, and a little porch. The pool was well maintained, and the back of the resort opens onto the Pacific. It’s a beautiful place on the edge of town, and the very friendly staff made us feel welcome and made our visit memorable. Thank you, Hosteria Canoa. We loved it!
