A lovely oasis in a small town on the edge of the avenue of volcanoes. The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean, the hotel is bright and airy, and the private garden has hummingbirds. It’s quiet, with plenty of tea during the day and cozy corners for reading, writing, or just unwinding. Breakfast each day was good, too. The staff are friendly and lovely, and the attentive, caring owner is around and present. After a climb, when you come back soaked and frozen, you’ll be looked after: there’s a heater for drying clothes and boots, another for your room, and a nice glass of wine. That kind of weather can change in five minutes in Ecuador. The town itself is safe and easy to walk around, but there isn’t much to go out and see. Still, if you’re here to climb and explore and want a comfortable home away from home, you couldn’t do better.

Paola was a fantastic host, and the place was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It’s a great-value base for heading into the big mountains. The town is nice and quaint, too.

A lovely rustic feel, with very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfasts were really good and dinner was amazing. It’s close to the center but tucked into a quiet residential area. Highly recommend.
